  • Code of Conduct & discipline

    1. All at New Life Academy are expected to behave well at all times and in all places. The whole-hearted co-operation of the guardians is expected at all times in the formation of the character of their children. As the child progresses from the lower to the upper classes, he/she will be given increasing opportunity to shift from conforming to externally imposed order to self-imposed discipline. The School will insist on strict punctuality, regular School attendance, cleanliness in dress, general grooming and fidelity to study and work assignment. Every student should carry with him/her the School diary daily.

    2. Children should always be clean and neatly dressed. They should wear the School uniform on all class days and School functions.

    3. At the first bell all the students must fall in line for the assembly and after the assembly, move silently to their classrooms. School begins with the Morning Assembly and students must be present for it on time. Every student must possess an identity card issued by the school.

    4. All the students must be in their seats before the teacher enters the class. The students must not be seen walking around in the verandas during the class hours without permission (cards). When changing from one class to another the students must move in silence. Monitors are appointed at the beginning of the scholastic year by the class teachers in consultation with the Principal they should be exemplary in conduct and good in studies so that they can command respect from their classmates. They should render all sorts of assistance in the class e.g. maintaining discipline, collecting/distributing books, attending to the cleanliness of the classroom, bringing teaching aids etc. If the teacher is late in coming to the class, the monitors should inform the Principal. If a breach of discipline occurs which the monitors are not able to control, the matter should be reported to the Class Teacher/Principal. Students are not allowed to bring to School gold ornaments, cameras, electronic watches with alarm, mobiles, transistors, books, magazines or comics (other than textbooks or library books), and any objects liable to cause disturbance. If found such objects will be confiscated by the School authorities. Care must be taken for all School property and no student should scratch or spoil the desks or chairs or damage things belonging to others. Damage done even by accident should be reported at once to the appropriate authority. Any damage done will be made good by the one who does it. Anyone who sees something damaged should report the matter even if he/she does not know who has done it. Each class will be responsible for looking after all class property. The School is not responsible for articles or money lost. Money should not be lent or borrowed, or articles exchanged.

    5. Every student should strive to keep up the high standard of the School by excelling in studies, co-curricular activities, good conduct and maintaining a high moral character. During recess there must be no student in the classrooms. All waste materials should be put in the dustbins provided for the purpose. Throwing stones or playing with hard ball is forbidden. A student who fails in the same class twice shall not be permitted to continue his/her studies in the School.

    6. The School reserves the right to dismiss those whose guardians show little interest in the progress of their wards or whose conduct is harmful to other students/parents/staff of the School. Immorality, any objectionable activity inside or outside School premises either during or beyond School hours, dishonesty, rude, riotous or disorderly behaviour either inside or outside the School premises, or wilful damage to School property is always sufficient for immediate dismissal of a student. A student who uses unfair means during examination will be given zero in that subject. Repetition of the same will result in his/her dismissal.

    7. Remarks made in the diary should be counter-signed by the parents/guardians only.

    8. Students and parents should not offer any presents or gifts to the teacher except with the explicit permission of the Principal.

    9. After the School hours all students are expected to go home. They are not allowed to go to their friend's house for parties etc. from the School.

    10. All the students must speak in English in the School premises. English conversation at home too is encouraged.

    11. Every child should take part in games and sports and other co-curricular activities. Indiscipline in the bus will make the pupil ineligible to use the School transport. Bus monitors are assigned to help maintain discipline.

    12. Smoking, use of drugs or intoxicants, rowdyism, rude behaviour, casteism and communalism, all such practices are forbidden. Students involved in any of the above activities will be dismissed. If there is any infectious disease in their home/family, parents are expected to report the matter to the class teacher at once, and not send their ward to School till the infection is controlled. School authorities will take serious note of this and the child will be sent back home.

    13. Leave of absence: If a student falls sick his/her leave application should be sent within 2 days. If he/she continues to be sick, a medical certificate needs to be produced. When the child re-joins a 'medical fitness' from the same doctor must be shown to allow the child to re-join. Though sufficient care is taken for the security of the children, however in case of natural, accidental mishap or third-party negligence the School shall not be responsible.

    14. The school authorities have the right to search the bags of the students at any time, without any prior notice.

    15. Students are responsible for the safe custody of their own books and belongings. Each article should be marked with the student's name.
